For many of us, winter signals the time to cuddle up on the couch with that glass of wine and chocolate bar rather than attending the dance classes that you love so much.
This winter, OnPointe challenges every one of you to do precisely the opposite of what you’re inclined to do on those winter days! Pull on those tights and leg warmers and get yourself to class because we know you’ll feel better for it 🙂 The best part is you won’t let those winter love handles catch up with you! Stay fit and healthy dancing through this winter season.
Here are some tips to make it easier to dance in the cold.
1. Layers! Pull on as many layers as you need so that you can peel them off as you warm up. And a zip up hoodie that can be taken off and put back on when necessary is a great help.
2. Add leg warmers to your retro dance outfit. They keep your leg muscles warm throughout the class so you don’t get cold and stiff again after warm up.
3. Instead of refrigerated water in your bottle, bring warm water to class. It’ll cool down as you warm up!
4. Make a flask (or travel mug) of tea or coffee to drink on your way to class.
5. Arrive a few minutes early and start stretching gently. It’ll start to warm you up before the class. Or simply bounce gently on the spot.
6. Most importantly, show up! Getting into the car and through the front door of the studio is the hardest part. It’s easy from there!
Don’t let the cold scare you off your passion – keep warm through winter with dance…
See you in studio!
